On March 27, People's Insurance Company of China (PIC) announced that Zhang Daoming, who currently serves as the temporary leader and executive director with the titles of vice president and chief financial officer at PIC, has been officially appointed as the party secretary of PIC. A seasoned insurance veteran with a deep understanding of the company's operations, Zhang has a wealth of experience in managing and developing insurance businesses.

Born in February 1976, Zhang holds a研究生 degree and an MBA, and is a senior economist. He started his career at PIC in 2009, holding various positions such as副处长 in the human resources department and head of market research. His tenure at the headquarters provides him with a comprehensive view of the company's operational dynamics.

From 2009 to 2020, Zhang worked in branches across Zhejiang, Jiangxi, and Guangdong provinces before assuming the roles of vice president and CFO. In 2020, he was appointed as PIC's president assistant, later stepping up as vice president. He concurrently served on the boards of subsidiaries like PIC Health and Life Insurance.

In December 2025, the company announced Zhang's appointment as temporary leader following the resignation of its president. PIC's 2025业绩, released on March 26, showed a 3.3% growth in primary insurance premiums to $555.77 billion, maintaining a 31.6% market share. The company maintained its leadership position with a 5.4% increase in service income.

During the 2025业绩 conference, Zhang highlighted PIC's strategic opportunities in adapting to the new economic era. Focusing on areas like consumer stimulation, social security, industrial infrastructure, 'Belt and Road' initiatives, and rural development, the company aims to reinforce and expand its competitive edge.
